We’re educating for sustainability in Tasmania
Students, teachers, parents and interested members of the Tasmanian community can use the information on this site to make their schools more sustainable by participating in AuSSI-Tas.
The Australian Sustainable Schools Initiative (AuSSI) is the partnership between the Australian Government and the States and Territories. The AuSSI vision is for all Australian schools and their communities to be sustainable.
There are more than 3,500 schools Australia wide participating in the sustainable schools initiative.
Australian Government EfS Documents
There are three documents that have been released that support and promote education for sustainability and the International Decade of Sustainability.
Educating for a sustainable future was the first document published in response to the International Decade of Sustainability. A National Environmental Education Statement for Australian Schools published in 2005.
The National Action Plan Living Sustainably released in April 2009 is the Australian Government's National Action Plan for Education for Sustainability.
Education for Sustainability is a booklet just released by the Australian Research Institute in Education for Sustainability (ARIES) and is about the role of education in engaging and equipping people for change. Download your copy.
